This Privacy Policy describes how AJV Ventures LLC ("AJV Ventures," "we," "us," or "our"), operator of the Hookback missed-call text-back service, collects, uses, and protects information in connection with our SMS text messaging service.
When a customer calls one of our client businesses' phone numbers and the call is not answered, we collect the caller's phone number in order to send an automated text message reply on behalf of that business. If the customer responds by text, we also collect the content of that reply so it can be forwarded to the business.
We use the phone number and message content solely to operate the missed-call text-back service: sending an automated reply to a missed call, and relaying any customer response to the business the customer contacted. We do not use this information for any other purpose.
Consent to receive a text message is collected through a spoken disclosure played at the start of every call to a Hookback client business's published phone number — before the call is connected. The caller hears an automated greeting substantially identical to the following, naming the business they called:
"Thanks for calling [Business Name]. If we can't get to the phone right now, you will receive one automated text message reply from us so you can tell us what you need. Message and data rates may apply. Reply stop to opt out."
For example, callers to a Hookback client business, such as Rick's Plumbing, hear: "Thanks for calling Rick's Plumbing. If we can't get to the phone right now, you will receive one automated text message reply from us so you can tell us what you need. Message and data rates may apply. Reply stop to opt out." The call is then connected to the business. If it goes unanswered, the caller's earlier act of calling — after hearing this disclosure — is treated as their request to be contacted back, and our system sends that caller a single automated SMS reply on behalf of the business they called. There is no website sign-up form, keyword opt-in, paper form, or QR code involved in this flow. Message frequency: one reply per missed call; no recurring or ongoing messages are sent. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data are not shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers collected through this service are used only to operate the missed-call text-back messaging described above.
We share collected information only with the specific business a customer contacted, so that business can follow up on the customer's inquiry. We do not sell customer data to data brokers or other third parties.
Message content and phone numbers are retained only as long as necessary to provide the service and to comply with applicable legal and carrier requirements.
